Resources for Dealing with Lust and Pornography
In follow up to this past Sunday’s message on lust and pornography, which you can listen to here, I wanted to provide some resources that might be helpful. There are a ton of resources on the internet, which shows how big the problem is. This is not an extensive list, but it covers multiple categories that could be beneficial to a person struggling with sexual sin, a family wanting to put up safeguards for kids, a parent needing to having conversation with their teens, or someone seeking professional help. City Awakening does not wholeheartedly endorse any of these resources. There are always pros and cons. You will have to use your own judgement to decide what will be best for you. If you need help or would like to talk to someone further about this issue, our staff is willing to listen and help in any way that we can. As mentioned in the sermon, one of the best things we can do to fight the sin is to expose it to the light. If we continue to pretend that it doesn’t exist, then it will continue to consume us from the inside out. To explore more ways to fight for purity in your life, go to the link in bio and explore the resources your church staff have put together at the link below.
Statistics
These studies and statistics will further reveal just how widespread the problem of pornography is. They bring the issue very close to home.
Covenant Eyes – Porn Stats – A safe place to read the numbers.
Thorn – This organization fights to raise awareness and defend children since a major category of internet pornography is child pornography.
Helpful Websites
Covenant Eyes – Here you can find articles, answers to tech questions, and links to more resources. There are tons of free e-book downloads that offer help for parents, singles, couples. There is a page dedicated to resources for women, and they offer a filtering software that’s been around for a long time.
Focus on the Family – This organization has long been known for their Christ-centered help for marriages and families. This link will take you to an article they put out several years ago about various approaches to dealing with a porn problem. It will link you to additional resources as well.
The Gospel Coalition – The Gospel Coalition is a go-to site for Gospel clarity on many issues. Use their search bar to find articles and videos on just about any topic. This link will take you to a video by Paul Tripp on How to Overcome Pornography. Below the video you find links to additional resources.
Filtering Software
Canopy – This software is new to the market and uses cutting edge technology to filter actual pictures and videos, not just block sites. One great feature of this technology is that it even applies to text messages.
Qustodio – Our family has been using this software for the past couple of years. It has been very helpful in blocking unwanted content and alerting the administrator when sites are blocked. As with most filtering software, it doesn’t always integrate well into apps.
Covenant Eyes – Covenant Eyes is a Christian based software that helps block content and provide accountability. It is a very affordable option. It offers an unlimited number of devices and up to 10 users on the account.

Counseling
There are several Christian counseling services that we refer people to in the Orlando area. Each situation is unique, and we realize not everyone lives in the Orlando area, so we chose not to list services here. In searching for a counselor, we highly recommend someone that incorporates a Gospel-perspective. If you need help finding a trustworthy counselor, please let us know.
