November Prayer Guide

Week 1: Thankfulness for Who God Is

Day 1 — Discover | Psalm 100
Ask God to open your heart to genuine thanksgiving this month — not just for what He’s done, but for who He is. Reflect on the attributes of God that you’ve personally experienced this year: His faithfulness, His patience, His provision. What has this past year revealed about His character that you didn’t fully see before?

Day 2 — Discover | Lamentations 3:22-23
Spend time reflecting on a season of difficulty you’ve walked through recently. Where were God’s mercies “new every morning” even when things were hard? Ask Him to give you eyes to see His faithfulness in the valleys — not just the mountaintops — and write down at least one thing He carried you through.

Day 3 — Deepen | Psalm 95:1-7
Ask God to deepen your posture of worship — not just in Sunday services, but in the ordinary rhythms of your week. Where has gratitude become routine or hollow? Pray for a renewed sense of awe at the reality that the God of the universe calls you His own. Ask Him what it would look like to “come before Him with thanksgiving” in your daily life.

Day 4 — Deepen | Romans 1:21
Pray honestly about the danger of ingratitude. Ask God to reveal any areas of your life where you’ve grown entitled, taken His blessings for granted, or allowed comparison to steal contentment. Pray for a heart that gives thanks in all circumstances, not just for easy ones.

Day 5 — Display | Colossians 3:15-17
Ask the Holy Spirit to make thankfulness a visible, contagious quality in your life this month. Pray that your gratitude would be so genuine that it draws others toward God — at the dinner table, at work, on social media, in how you talk about your life. Who in your circle needs to see what a thankful life looks like?

Day 6 — Display | 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Pray for opportunities to verbally express thanksgiving to people God has placed in your life — a mentor, a friend, a family member, someone at your church. Ask God to prompt you toward specific, unhurried gratitude this week, and for the courage to say it out loud rather than just think it.

Day 7 — Discipleship | Hebrews 13:15
Practical Challenge: This week, start a “Thanksgiving List” — a running note on your phone or a small journal where you record one thing per day you’re grateful for. Share it with someone — a spouse, a friend, a small group — by the end of the month. Gratitude grows when it’s spoken and shared. Consider reading it aloud at your Thanksgiving table this year.

Week 2: Thankfulness for the Gospel & the Church

Day 8 — Discover | 2 Corinthians 9:15
Meditate on the “indescribable gift” of Jesus Christ. Ask God to make the gospel feel as stunning and costly and personal to you today as it did the moment you first understood it. Where has familiarity dulled your wonder at what Christ has done? Ask Him to restore it.

Day 9 — Discover | Ephesians 2:4-7
Reflect on where you were spiritually before Christ — or where you’d be without Him. Ask God to remind you of the mercy that found you, and let that fuel genuine thanksgiving. Pray for someone you love who hasn’t yet experienced that mercy.

Day 10 — Deepen | Psalm 122:1
Ask God to deepen your love for the local church — not the ideal of it, but the actual people who sit near you on Sundays. Where have you been a passive consumer rather than an active, grateful member? Pray for a renewed sense of belonging and responsibility to your church body.

Day 11 — Deepen | Philippians 1:3-6
Pray specifically and by name for people in your church who have shaped your faith — a pastor, a small group leader, a mentor, a friend who prayed for you. Ask God to deepen those relationships and show you how to invest in someone else the way they’ve invested in you.

Day 12 — Display | Acts 2:46-47
Ask God to make your church known in your neighborhood for its joy and generosity — a community so visibly grateful that outsiders are drawn in. Pray for your church’s witness in the community this Thanksgiving season, and for ways you personally can extend its reach through hospitality.

Day 13 — Display | Romans 15:7
Pray for the unity of your church — across generations, backgrounds, and opinions. Ask God to make your congregation a place where people feel genuinely welcomed and seen. Pray for someone on the margins of your church community and ask God how you can draw them in this month.

Day 14 — Discipleship | Colossians 4:2
Practical Challenge: Write a handwritten note of appreciation to someone at your church this week — a staff member, a volunteer, a fellow member who has blessed you. Be specific. Tell them what they did and how it impacted you. The church is built on people who feel seen and valued. Be someone who does that for others.

Week 3: Thankfulness for Family, Relationships & Provision

Day 15 — Discover | Psalm 128
Ask God to open your eyes to the gift of the people He has placed around you — family, friends, neighbors, and community. Reflect on the relationships that have most shaped you this year. Where have you seen God’s provision come through the hands and presence of other people?

Day 16 — Discover | James 1:17
Spend time tracing the “good and perfect gifts” in your life back to their source. Think beyond the obvious — health, home, work — to the quieter gifts: a conversation that came at the right moment, a door that opened, a fear that didn’t come to pass. Write them down and bring them to God in gratitude.

Day 17 — Deepen | Proverbs 17:17
Ask God to deepen your investment in your closest relationships this Thanksgiving season. Where have you been distracted, distant, or taken for granted by those you love most? Pray for the humility to show up more fully — at the dinner table, in the text thread, in the everyday moments that matter more than we realize.

Day 18 — Deepen | Philippians 4:11-13
Pray through the tension between contentment and longing. Ask God to give you the grace to be genuinely thankful for what you have, even while you trust Him for what hasn’t come yet — financially, relationally, professionally. Where do you need to lay down striving and simply receive?

Day 19 — Display | Luke 17:15-16
Of the ten lepers Jesus healed, only one returned to give thanks. Ask God to make you the one who turns back. Pray for the awareness to pause and express gratitude — to God and to others — before moving on to the next thing. Who in your life is waiting for a thank-you you haven’t given yet?

Day 20 — Display | Matthew 25:35-40
Ask God to show you a practical way to extend His provision to someone in need this Thanksgiving season — a meal, a gift card, a ride, an invitation to your table. Pray for open eyes to the need around you and open hands to meet it. Your gratitude expressed outwardly is a witness to God’s generosity.

Day 21 — Discipleship | Deuteronomy 8:10-14
Practical Challenge: Before Thanksgiving Day, gather your household or a few close friends and do a “stones of remembrance” exercise — each person shares two or three specific ways God provided, protected, or showed up in the past year. Write them down together. Guard against the warning in Deuteronomy 8: when we are full, we forget. Don’t forget.

Week 4: Thankfulness in Hardship, Hope & Anticipation

Day 22 — Discover | Habakkuk 3:17-18
Ask God to reveal where you are being called to give thanks in a genuinely hard season — not with pretense, but with the raw, gutsy faith of Habakkuk. Is there a loss, a disappointment, or an unanswered prayer you’ve been carrying? Bring it honestly to God and ask Him to meet you there.

Day 23 — Discover | Romans 8:28
Reflect on something painful from the past year that you are only now beginning to see God’s hand in. Ask Him to open your eyes to the redemptive thread running through your story — not minimizing the hurt, but trusting the Author. Where is He turning what was meant for harm into something for His glory?

Day 24 — Deepen | Psalm 42:5
Pray for those in your church and community for whom Thanksgiving is a deeply hard time — the grieving, the lonely, the estranged, the depressed. Ask God to deepen your compassion and attentiveness to the people around you who are putting on a brave face this season. Who can you reach out to this week?

Day 25 — Deepen | Isaiah 61:3
Ask God to exchange the spirit of heaviness for a garment of praise in your life and in the lives of those around you who are hurting this holiday season. Pray specifically for those facing their first Thanksgiving after a loss — a death, a divorce, a prodigal child, an empty chair at the table. Ask God how your church can be present to them.

Day 26 — Display | 1 Peter 1:3-6
Thanksgiving Day. Pray with the full weight of eternal hope — that this life, with all its pain and beauty, is not the whole story. Ask God to make your joy today not dependent on circumstances but anchored in the living hope of the resurrection. Pray that your celebration today points everyone at your table toward that hope.

Day 27 — Display | Psalm 107:1-2
Ask God for boldness to tell your story of redemption — not just around your own table, but in the weeks ahead. The redeemed of the Lord are to say so. Who needs to hear what God has done in your life? Pray for a specific opportunity and the courage to take it.

Day 28 — Discipleship | Psalm 100:4-5
Practical Challenge: Close out the month by doing something tangible that turns your gratitude into generosity. Volunteer at a food bank, invite someone lonely to a meal, give sacrificially to a ministry or family in need, or simply write out your testimony — what God has brought you from, and what He has brought you to — and share it with one person before December begins. Thanksgiving is never just a feeling. It’s a direction.

Day 29 — Bonus: Looking Ahead | Psalm 90:12
As the month closes and Advent approaches, ask God to help you number your days and enter December with intention. Pray for wisdom to carry a spirit of gratitude through the holiday rush — that what grew in you this month would not be swallowed by busyness.

Day 30 — Bonus: The Eternal Table | Revelation 19:6-9
End November with your eyes on the ultimate feast — the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Every Thanksgiving table is a shadow of something greater. Pray with joy and longing for that day, and let it give weight and wonder to every ordinary meal shared in love between now and then.
