2022 Quarterly Leadership Update (July-September)

November 15th, 2022

Dear City Awakening Family,

It’s the final stretch of the 2022 year, and there are so many things I’m looking forward to! For example, I’m looking forward to hurricane season ending! I’m seriously over the hurricanes, the rain, the heat, and ready for cooler weather to begin. I’m also looking forward to enjoying great food, fun, and family time during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many of you know I’m a foodie, and this is the season where I fully embrace the words of King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 9:7, “Eat your bread with joy!” Oh I will King Solomon! I will eat with so much joy this season!

But here’s some things I’m looking forward to as a church!

  • The Story = We took a short break from this series to teach on generosity, but we will resume our study of the biblical narrative on 11/27. We have five sermons left in this series, and three of those five are on the book of Revelation. You don’t want to miss it!

  • Winter Fest = This is so much more than an event! It’s a chance to have fun, reach our city, help people still suffering from hurricane Ian, and also create awareness about our Christmas Eve Service. It’s happening on 12/10, so sign up to serve, and help spread the word! (For more info go to “events” at cityawakeningchurch.com)

  • Christmas Eve = We always have great Christmas Eve services that welcomes both skeptics and believers, but also challenges them to seek truth and find joy in Jesus. So save the date for December 24th at 5pm, and invite as many friends as you can with the invite cards we will provide.

  • Deeply Rooted = We are calling 2023 Deeply Rooted, because we want to focus on our church growing in theology. This year we studied the biblical narrative together, and next year we want to grow in theology together. I’ll share more about this in a few weeks at our member’s family meeting after church on 12/4.

As believers we have much to look forward to and be thankful for in life. Hardship sometimes blinds us from seeing it, but the Apostle Paul encourages us to think and dwell on the many blessings the Lord’s given us. Philippians 4:8, “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things.” Take some time to dwell on some of the personal blessings the Lord has given you. Then ask the Lord to increase your passion for him, and to increase your passion for helping our church finish 2022 strong. We have much to be thankful for, and much look forward to!

Reach People, Reach The World,

Pastor Louis Tamburro III
