August Prayer Guide
Theme: Rest and Reset
Week 1
Genesis 2:2-3, "On the seventh day God had completed his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it he rested from all his work of creation."
Pray for the Lord to slow your mind enough to rest. Take mini sabbath moments where you take 5 minutes out of your day to be still, to enjoy his creation, and to thank the Lord for the blessings he's given you. Take time this week to rest, have some fun, and pray giving thanks to the Lord.
Week 2
Psalm 23:1-3, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul."
The Lord is your Shepherd, and he wants you to rest your weary soul in him. Pray to Jesus as your good Shepherd. Talk with him about whatever is burdening your soul. Ask him to "restore" your weary soul.
Week 3
Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
This week spend some time praying about whatever things are making you feel anxious. Pray for the Lord to grow your trust in him, and ask for his "peace" to give your anxious "heart and mind" some rest.
Week 4
Mark 6:31, "Jesus said to them, 'Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest for a while.' For many people were coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat."
Work will always be there for you, but like Jesus, we must take some time to pause from our work. Take time throughout this week to go to a "remote place" and to "rest for a while." Pray asking Jesus to give you rest and to fill your cup again.
